ROOTED IN QUALITY SINCE 1998
When Ken and Leah James founded James Greenhouses in 1998, the idea was simple – to produce high quality perennial plugs and liners for growers across the southeast. Fast forward to today and our dedicated team of 65 people. We produce and ship more than 10 million liners per year across North America and beyond. While James has grown significantly, our focus on quality and customer service remains the same – the higher standard our customers have come to expect.

Located in rural Georgia, just outside of Athens, James’ facility is clean, modern, and designed for propagation. Mild winters and high light levels allow for liner production year-round. In our production space, we utilize mist booms, under bench hot water heat, sub-irrigation, naturally ventilated houses and computerized environmental controls. Innovation is essential. New programs like predatory mites and LED lighting were designed to keep quality up and costs down.
Another key to James’ success is our long-term relationship with the University of Georgia. Our friendship with Dr. Allan Armitage and others has produced a steady stream of new varieties, marketing ideas, and talented employees.
Currently, James Greenhouses produces about 650 varieties of perennials, tropicals and specialty annuals. The majority are grown in 72 cell trays, but custom sizes range from 21 to 288 cell trays. For those high-value tissue culture and rose items, we use Ellepots manufactured on-site to ensure minimum transplant shock.
To help bring new varieties to market, we work closely with Danziger, Darrell Probst, Darwin Perennials, Dummen Orange, Green Trade Horticulture, Heuger Trading Co., PlantHaven, Star Roses, Syngenta, Terra Nova, Think Plants and others. Look for their exciting introductions throughout this site.
